You may include URLs (Uniform Resource Locators) as attributes to the pointnodes you create. This will allow you to access those resources by clicking on the pointnode's symbol. In order to do that you first need to create an attribute field for storing the URL. (See Edit Attribute Fields.) Then you need to tell XViewSDTS which of your attribute fields contains the URLs, which you do by following the instructions on this page.
You may also export a map as an HTML document containing the map image and the data for a client-side image map. That way anyone may load that HTML file into a web browser and access those same resources by clicking on the pointnode's symbol. In order to create such a file, you need to have an attribute field for storing the Alternate Label used in the image map, in addition to the attribute field for storing the URL as discussed above. The Alternate Label is the text that will be displayed by the browser when the user points to a pointnode on the image map. The attribute field for the Alternate Label may be a field that you would be creating anyway, such as a name field.
Or you may skip the URLs and just have an attribute field for the Alternate Label. That will simply allow the browser user to see the Alternate Label by pointing at the pointnodes, even though clicking on the pointnodes won't do anything. This is useful for supplementing the pointnode's label with additional data, or replacing the label on a map that is so busy that there is no room for labels. (If you choose to do this, you should probably warn the user that the map is not clickable.)
Choose Link Sources from the Edit menu to open the Edit Link
Sources window.
If you have an attribute field for URLs, find it in the list of
attribute fields under URL: , and click it.
The field name is highlighted and copied to the box below the list.
Next, if you have an attribute field for Alternate Label, find it in
the list of attribute fields under Alternate Label: , and click
it.
It too is highlighted and copied to the box below that list.
Finally, click OK.
